Happy Clients

Jennie’s patient manner and gentle push help me to stay on task, which is not easy as I do not like to write. She is also precise with her word choices. I see Jennie each week and have truly grown as a writer with her help. I couldn’t do it without her!

Jennie has been a gift to our family! Jennie doesn't do the work for your child, she teaches them the skills so that they learn to do it themselves. She helped my daughter not only get organized on the page but also in her classroom and her mind. My daughter is now one of the strongest writers in her AP classes.
Jennie is intelligent, warm, and experienced.

Jennie helps a student take an overwhelming workload and make a manageable, realistic, step-by-step plan to get through it.

She helps us and our son communicate with teachers and school administrators, either by working directly with those folks or strategizing with us to make a plan for communicating with school. We, as parents, no longer have to make homework and school the primary focus of our conversations with our son. Homework and the anxiety around it no longer dominate that relationship. What a relief!

Jennie Russo has been integral to my daughter’s success as a student. She has empowered her to be an original, independent thinker while offering structured support and encouragement. She helps her break down tasks into manageable pieces, meet deadlines and truly understand the material. Just as essential: Jennie is fun, empathetic and possessed of the enviable ability to connect with teenagers and keep them motivated. She has a strong network of talented, like-minded colleagues and we have turned to her more than once for recommendations. Jennie’s presence in our lives has meant fewer family battles about homework and more peace of mind.

Jennie has adeptly worked with our son in both lower middle school and high school.  Quickly earning his trust, she has had a positive effect across the board: from improved executive functioning and organizational skills, to providing effective techniques to tackle long and short writing assignments.  Jennie has helped take some of the anxiety out of the blank page, and allowed our son’s innate ability to really shine through.

Jennie started working with our son when he was an 8th-grader recently diagnosed with dyslexia.  He was in a pretty dark place, often avoiding school entirely, and on the brink of losing his spot in high school.  Administrators were counseling us about boarding school. Jennie was a crucial force for good and helped pull him out of that nosedive. His turnaround was epic. Fast forward to 12th grade: He is still succeeding at the same school, Jennie is still his tutor, still much loved by us all, and supporting him through ACT testing and the college application process.

Jennie has enhanced my life in unexpected ways.  As an adult, I was craving some academic challenges. Jennie created a syllabus for me of publications, authors, podcasts & movies based on my interests. This led to her helping me find creative writing workshops in the city. Jennie plants seeds. She is intelligent, warm, and experienced.
