A zine is a self-made, self-published magazine dedicated to a specific topic or theme. While they have a somewhat radical heritage, zines are an excellent vehicle for practicing a number of crucial skills of executive function: planning, shifting set (flexibility), idea generation, time management, skills execution and others. They are also a wonderful expression of creativity.
Your student will work individually or collaboratively on any subject from college football to Communism, Taylor Swift to the Pythagorean Theorem, bodega sandwiches to food insecurity. Students will use a combination of text, drawing and collage to create their own zine.
